Happy Anniversary! As of today, my mom and dad have been married for 21 years. I had a delicious piece of melted ice cream cake at Oma's house today.
*Drum Roll* I finished Watership Down and already wrote 3 pages of my book report! The never-ending book has ended! Of course it ended like I predicted, happily. I think I just wasted 474 pages of my life.
Today there was a giant thunderstorm. So scarily loud and disturbing my Dad called my brother and I from the gym to tell us to shut everything off. Gabriel and I actually played some board games, and I found out I'm horrible at Jumping Monkeys. Oh, and Gabriel is great at High School Musical Mystery Date.
It was an exciting day today. Klara finally got her hair cut. My Uncle thinks her hair should stay long, but Klara and my Aunt(her mom) wanted it off. So my Aunt was rushing the stylist to chop it all off into a bob until my uncle came in. Wow, he was pissed. They are going upstate today, and Sunday is the day we leave to Pennsylvania.
DSi's are officially scary. Gabriel got his a few days ago and he won't get off it. It is truly scary. I just grabbed the DSi away from him, he screamed and now my dad wants to know what's wrong. And he can get Internet from it. He never puts it down, even at dinner. I can swear he even used it in the bathroom today. I kept on trying to give him something to eat, but he refused. He wanted to play his DSi.
In honor of my "it's time to be nice" blog rant yesterday, I think every facebook, myspace, twitter or AIM user should friend someone who doesn't really have a lot of friends, someone who is mad at them, or someone who was mean to you. It's time to be proactive and take the first step. If you want the world to be nice, you have to start being nice. I already friended someone. Did you?
Time for a writing prompt, something I haven't done in quite a while. The question is "Is war ever justified?". Well, I am a pacifist, and the only war I think was ever worth fighting was the civil war, which helped slaves earn their freedom. But other than that, no, never ever ever. War kills innocent people, and usually, just to make the rich richer. It's barbaric and stupid. I wonder why it is called "patriotic". What's so patriotic about getting people from your country killed? What the heck is so honorable about that? I especially hate the war we are fighting now. It has been going on and it is all about Oil. So many innocent people dying every day because of OIL! But do you know who I especially hate? The rich idiots who start it. I think of war, and I remember that my Oma grew up during WWII in Germany. I remember the story she told me. Her family hid in her church because they thought the Americans wouldn't come and attack a religious building. And they did. So she had to run through the gardens of the church without a solider catching her, and sneak through a slim secret path while she watched her other friends and family being shot to death. If she hadn't been able to sneak away, or if she had gotten shot, I would not be here blogging today, and my mom wouldn't be on the couch with a glass of wine watching Mamma Mia on HBO. When I here these stories, they haunt me. I wonder if those who support war have ever heard the stories of not only the soldiers who survived, but the innocent who didn't survive. I wonder if they have walked the streets of Rhinepflaz, looking at where bomb shelters used to be hidden, sat through church services where the people pray to never have another war again, to see the gun shots still in the Church walls that will never escape. About 500 people died today in war. Was it worth it?
