R.I.P. Uncle Klaus

As you all know, my Great Uncle, Klaus, passed away Sunday morning. He had Leukemia and was fighting for 10 long months. I went to his wake yesterday night, and came back late. I didn't have time to do a blog. I also attended his funeral this morning. I just wanted to dedicate this blog to him, for being a good person, for loving his dog and his cards and his grandkids, my cousins, John and Eric.

 Thoughts of the Day:
Since this was the first time I ever went to a wake, I had a lot of thoughts. First, I think I should treat my family better because they aren't going to be here forever. Oma is not always going to be there to remind to wear a hat when it's cold out and my parents aren't always going to guide me. Another thought I had is, what am I going to remember on my death bed. It's  not going to be what schools I went to, or how much money I made. It's going to be the times I spent with my family and friends. It's going to be the times I spent helping people. If you think about it, isn't having a life full of adventure with a half full wallet better than a life full of boredom with a full wallet? Life is a giant adventure, and you only get to go once. Unless you get reincarnated. But you still can't get reincarnated as yourself. Unless I'm just repeating the same life over and over again. Well, who knows.
Another thing I thought about was my funeral. Hopefully, I won't have one within the next 90 years. How many people are going to care about me? How many people are going to show up? What will people say about me? I have two rules. First, there will be no black at my funeral, or no depressing speeches. Everything must be happy and bright and colorful. That's the type of life I want to live. Also, I want my wake to be out in a garden, or somewhere open.  If I'm looking down, I want to see people laughing and singing and dancing. I want it to be a celebration of..life!

Song of the Day:
You Raise Me Up by Westlife
This is what they played at the wake.

Quote of the Day:
You don't choose your family.  They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.  ~Desmond Tutu

Thoughts on the State of the Union speech to come this weekend....
